Whichever you prefer. I have grown to appreciate Autumn. Being from the Caribbean (Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic to be more precise) I’d always loved loved loved intense summers. But more recently I found them suffocating and just darn unbearable (no getting old comments, thank you!).

So, now when the weather cools off and just gets a bit more crisp I kind of breathe a deep sigh of relief. I can wear my cute sweaters and pull of some hairstyles that may not work so well during our uber-humid Chicago summers. No love lost as it all works out.

I’ll see if I can get some photos of our leaves turning here for you all to view. But for now just enjoy the cooler temps and go out for a walk before it becomes impossible to do so.

There are some folks who cross through your life and just as quickly exit and there’s not much to be said about them.  Then there are others who over time start to become dear to you.

Such a friend (the latter of the two) recently wrote about her experience with what could have been (and may very well still be) a life altering experience.  You can read about it here.

One normally tends to focus on just the person who battling an illness (short or long term) but often forget that while it touches one body it also reaches their entire family and sometimes even their community.

Jen is brave for many reasons (and so is Steve and their family).  Why this post?  Rather then just sit back and feel sorry or even happy for herself for such a positive outcome they, Team Bebb, have decided to run to raise money for The Underwear Affair.  This is something we can all do to help.  Whether it is small or large, identified or anonymous - I ask that you give because every little bit helps.

By sheer luck (or fate) I got a frantic call from Nathan Petty at the beginning of June in dire need of a second shooter for what was to be a truly fabulous wedding. I knew him in passing from a wedding forum of which we are both members. Getting to shoot with and hang out with Nathan was a treat as it were but getting take a part in document such a beautifully planned wedding with two people who are truly in love was truly an honor. Right - so I’ll stop talking and on with the photos. Enjoy!

I wanted to give a birthday greeting to my big sister Myrna (that’s mer-nah) who is celebrating the third installment of her 29th birthday today.

I wanted to re-count my very excellent experience with Bludomain’s customer when I recently contacted for my new website.

On Thursday morning I sent Bludomain an email inquiring about purchasing one of their website templates: Betsey.  On Friday morning I heard back from them saying they had received my request and welcoming me to Bludomain.  I submitted my host requirements to them on Friday morning and Aundrea replied confirming their receipt and also informed me that my site would be ready and in my host server by Friday at midnight.

Just for kicks at 11pm on Friday I logged into my server to see what if anything had a occurred yet (yes I’m aware that we are in different time zones AND that the Bludomain was prepping to leave to Vegas for WPPI.  So, I logged in and there it was…  Betsey.  At 11.  PM.   heeee!

I made my updates/edits/personalization and submitted my ‘Go Live!’ request on Saturday morning and got not 1 but 2 replies from Bludomain (Rachel) and the Blu Concierge (Shannon).

I waited until Tuesday to check my site again and oh oh to my surprise there she was!! Betsey was live.

Hey Everyone - yes I am talking to my imaginary blog audience

I’ve created and added my own Facebook App to my Facebook Profile. If you haven’t heard of Facebook yet by all means go check it out. So what does this little app do? Well it takes my blog (yep, this one) and adds a little news feed to Facebook whenever I create a new post.

Hello all

I’m currently running around headless getting my things together for my flight tomorrow morning. Somehow I managed to book myself on a 5:45 AM flight and it isn’t even at my preferred airport. Ask me how it happened… I have not a clue. Anywho, crack of dawn flight notwithstanding; I am beyond excited. This is my first DWF convention (I’ve missed 3 and was determined to make it to this one).

For those wondering who or what the DWF is… DWF stands for Digital Wedding Forum. I joined the DWF back in June 2005. As happy as I was to be a part of that forum, little did I know the impact it would have on my photography career (budding as it may be) and even more so on my life. Yeah yeah everyone says sappy things like that, right? Well, I don’t unless it’s true. I have learned so much and made so many [REAL] friends as a result of participating on the DWF that I cannot imagine how things would be for me today if I hadn’t joined. It’s just one of those tipping points.

The value of the advice I have received there and the wisdom of the thousands (yes, thousands) of other members is worth way more than the annual $129 membership fee. If you are a wedding photographer looking to network with other like minded professionals or a newbie just getting your feet wet - the Digital Wedding Forum has tons to offer you. Tell ‘em Vida the Leggy Mod sent ya!

Ok, where was I? Oh right, convention.  I will be leaving tomorrow (at the aforementioned un-godly hour) and will be arriving in Tampa, Florida at around 11 AM. I am still undecided as to whether or not I will be taking my camera (don’t shoot me) but if I do you can check back here for photos, updates and other fun stuff.

In the coming weeks I will be filling the blog with some events that I shot over 2007 and you should see those posts popping up in the order they were shot so hang tight, sit back and don’t forget to subscribe so you’ll get the new posts right to your browser.

I'll be flying out to Orlando, FL at daybreak (literally… it's a 6 AM flight). Traveling again for what you ask? Well, I will be shooting a cotillion for the lovely Genesis R. and then taking an extra day to de-compress.
