Welcome

Welcome to vida | photographer… my name is Vida.

So this is where I tell you my life story and all about my undying passion for photography, right? Well, I’ll keep it brief.

I was 12 years old when I first became interested in photography. My first camera was one on of those Instamatic 110 cameras. After shooting film for 14 years I switched over to digital in 2005 and never looked back.

No need to worry - I won’t be using my old Instamatic to shoot your wedding.

See? All done.

love is coffee…

no one should ever be obligated to face the world without first having had coffee. Aside from the fact that the mere thought of having some coffee just makes me smile

Super Bowl Congrats!

Three cheers the New York Giants - 2008 Super Bowl champions - who beat the previously unstoppable New England Patriots 17 to 14!

I’ll be heading out to a local bowling alley tonight to spend some time with a group of fellow wedding photographers. It promises to be a great time. I will post some photos from the GTG tomorrow.Take care

Blog and Facebook

Hey Everyone - yes I am talking to my imaginary blog audience :)

I’ve created and added my own Facebook App to my Facebook Profile. If you haven’t heard of Facebook yet by all means go check it out. So what does this little app do? Well it takes my blog (yep, this one) and adds a little news feed to Facebook whenever I create a new post.

So you don’t even have to come and look for my blog - you can reach it right from Facebook. Pretty neat isn’t it? Yeah, I thought so too.

So go ahead and add my little facebook app

Take care and thanks for reading!

and since I’ve learned that a post with a photo is always more interesting here is an image of some dahlink shoes that I just adore. Yum!

Preparing for takeoff - My 1st DWF Convention

Hello all :)

I’m currently running around headless getting my things together for my flight tomorrow morning. Somehow I managed to book myself on a 5:45 AM flight and it isn’t even at my preferred airport. Ask me how it happened… I have not a clue. Anywho, crack of dawn flight notwithstanding; I am beyond excited. This is my first DWF convention (I’ve missed 3 and was determined to make it to this one).

For those wondering who or what the DWF is… DWF stands for Digital Wedding Forum. I joined the DWF back in June 2005. As happy as I was to be a part of that forum, little did I know the impact it would have on my photography career (budding as it may be) and even more so on my life. Yeah yeah everyone says sappy things like that, right? Well, I don’t unless it’s true. I have learned so much and made so many [REAL] friends as a result of participating on the DWF that I cannot imagine how things would be for me today if I hadn’t joined. It’s just one of those tipping points.

The value of the advice I have received there and the wisdom of the thousands (yes, thousands) of other members is worth way more than the annual $129 membership fee. If you are a wedding photographer looking to network with other like minded professionals or a newbie just getting your feet wet - the Digital Wedding Forum has tons to offer you. Tell ‘em Vida the Leggy Mod sent ya! ;)

Ok, where was I? Oh right, convention.  I will be leaving tomorrow (at the aforementioned un-godly hour) and will be arriving in Tampa, Florida at around 11 AM. I am still undecided as to whether or not I will be taking my camera (don’t shoot me) but if I do you can check back here for photos, updates and other fun stuff.

In the coming weeks I will be filling the blog with some events that I shot over 2007 and you should see those posts popping up in the order they were shot so hang tight, sit back and don’t forget to subscribe so you’ll get the new posts right to your browser.

I off to finish up some last minute travel madness. You can check out this video clip in the meantime. Rene and Melisa Tirado are some awesome photographers and soon to be good friends. They were recently voted the Best of Boston Photographers and were also recently interviewed.

Enjoy the video and have a fabulous day! :)
